Terms of Service
Last updated: 8 May 2026. Effective date: 8 May 2026.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Scout, an AI-powered job search platform operated by Scout The Corgi LLC (“Scout”, “we”, “us”, “our”), a limited liability company incorporated in Tennessee, United States.
By creating an account or using Scout, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who can use Scout
You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher) to use Scout. By creating an account, you confirm you meet this requirement.
You agree to provide accurate and current information when registering and to keep your account information up to date.
2. Your account
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your login credentials secure
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with or without notice depending on severity.
3. The Service
Scout provides AI assisted job search features including:
- Job role discovery and matching against your profile
- Personalized resume and cover letter generation
- Application form filling assistance
- Chat assistance with an AI agent
- Voice commands and voice style learning
- Personalized recommendations based on your behavior
Features may evolve over time. We may add, modify, or discontinue features. Material changes affecting paid subscribers will be communicated in advance.
What Scout is not
Scout is a tool, not an employment agency or career counselor. We do not guarantee:
- That you will receive job offers
- That generated documents will result in interviews
- That information surfaced through Discover is current or accurate (we rely on third-party data sources)
- The quality, legitimacy, or behavior of any employer whose roles appear in Scout
You are responsible for the documents you submit and the applications you make. We strongly encourage reviewing any AI-generated content before submitting it to employers.
4. Subscriptions and billing
Tiers
Scout offers a free tier (Sniff) and paid subscription tiers. Pricing and limits are published on our pricing page.
Billing
Paid subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe. Charges occur immediately upon signup and renew on the same date each month.
EU/EEA consumers are billed VAT-inclusive amounts. Scout collects VAT under the Non-Union OSS scheme through Ireland (VAT registration number EU372097451) and remits VAT to the relevant tax authorities.
Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through Settings → Billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; we do not offer prorated refunds for the unused portion of a billing period unless required by law.
Refunds
We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods. If you believe you have been incorrectly charged, contact hey@scout-the-corgi.com.
Bundle purchases
One-time bundle purchases are non-refundable and expire at the end of the current billing period. Unused bundle credits do not roll over.
Price changes
We may change subscription prices with 30 days' advance notice. Existing subscribers will be notified by email and may cancel before the new price takes effect.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Scout for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract our source code or AI models
- Scrape, bulk download, or systematically extract data from Scout
- Submit content that is fraudulent, defamatory, or infringes others' rights
- Use Scout to harass, threaten, or harm any person
- Misrepresent your identity, qualifications, or work history in ways intended to deceive employers
- Attempt to overwhelm our infrastructure or evade usage limits through technical means
- Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit Scout without written permission
- Train or build competing AI models using outputs generated by Scout
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
6. Your content and data
Your content
You retain ownership of the content you provide to Scout (resumes, profile information, cover letters, chat messages). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, store, process, and modify your content solely to provide and improve the Service.
This license ends when you delete the relevant content or your account, except where retention is legally required (e.g., payment records).
Generated content
Documents Scout generates for you (resumes, cover letters, application drafts) are yours to use as you see fit. We do not claim ownership of generated content.
Personalization and learning
Scout learns from your usage to personalize the Service for you. By using Scout, you authorize this personalization.
You may also choose to contribute aggregate, anonymized signals to help improve recommendations across our user base (“cohort learning”). This is opt-in by default but can be turned off at any time in Settings → Privacy → Personalization. Your individual data is never shared with other users.
Special category personal data
Resumes, cover letters, and conversations with Scout often contain sensitive information (health, religion, ethnicity, etc.). By using Scout, you provide explicit consent under GDPR Article 9(2)(a) for us to process this data to deliver the Service. You can revoke this consent at any time in Settings → Privacy.
7. AI-generated content
Scout uses third-party AI models (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI GPT) to generate documents and provide recommendations. AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies, outdated information, or content that does not reflect your true preferences. You are responsible for reviewing AI-generated content before relying on it or submitting it to employers.
We do not guarantee:
- That AI generated documents are factually accurate
- That AI generated content reflects your professional record correctly
- That AI recommendations are appropriate for your goals
We continually work to improve the quality of AI-generated content, but it is a tool to assist you, not a replacement for your judgment.
8. Third-party services
Scout integrates with third party services to deliver features. These include:
- Job data providers (TheirStack)
- AI/LLM providers (Anthropic, OpenAI)
- Hosting and infrastructure (AWS)
- Payment processing (Stripe)
- Authentication providers (Google, LinkedIn, GitHub)
Each of these has their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control their behavior or data practices, though we choose them with reasonable care.
If you sign in via a third-party provider (e.g., Google), additional terms from that provider apply.
9. Intellectual property
Scout, our logos, brand elements, software, and the Service itself are the intellectual property of Scout The Corgi LLC. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.
You may not:
- Copy, distribute, or create derivative works of our software or content
- Use our trademarks, logos, or brand elements without written permission
- Remove copyright or other proprietary notices
10. Termination
You may delete your account at any time through Settings → Privacy → Delete my account.
We may suspend or terminate your account if:
- You materially breach these Terms
- Required by law
- Continued provision of the Service to you would expose us to legal risk
On termination, your data is deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy retention schedule.
11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Service provided “as is”
Scout is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
No employment guarantee
We do not guarantee employment outcomes, interview success, salary improvements, or any specific result from using Scout.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Scout's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service is limited to the greater of:
- The amount you paid Scout in the 12 months preceding the claim, or
- EUR 100
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law. EU consumers retain all rights they have under EU consumer protection law.
12. EU consumer rights
If you are an EU/EEA consumer, the following applies:
- These Terms do not affect your statutory rights under EU consumer protection law
- You have a 14-day right of withdrawal for digital subscriptions, except where you have started using the Service immediately
- If you start using paid features immediately, you waive your right of withdrawal
- You may bring disputes to the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform: https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, United States, without regard to conflict of laws principles. For EU/EEA consumers, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer protection laws of the member state where you are habitually resident.
For any dispute, we encourage you to first contact us at hey@scout-the-corgi.com to seek resolution informally.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms periodically. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of Scout after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
