Cookie Policy
Last updated: 8 May 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Scout The Corgi LLC (“Scout”) uses cookies and similar technologies on heyscout.me and related pages.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, to make them work more efficiently, and to provide information to website operators.
Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixel tags, and device fingerprinting.
2. Cookies we use
We classify cookies into four categories:
Strictly necessary (always on, no consent required)
These cookies are essential for the Service to function. Without them, basic features like login and security would not work.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| scout_session | Maintains your logged in session | Session |
| scout_csrf | Prevents cross site request forgery attacks | Session |
| scout_auth | Stores authentication tokens after login | 30 days |
| cookie_consent | Stores your cookie preferences | 12 months |
Functional (require consent)
These cookies remember your preferences and settings to improve your experience.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| scout_preferences | Stores UI preferences (theme, language) | 12 months |
| scout_voice_consent | Stores your voice feature opt in | 12 months |
Analytics (require consent)
These cookies help us understand how users interact with Scout, so we can improve it.
Scout uses Google Analytics 4 with Consent Mode. Analytics cookies are only set if you grant consent. We use privacy respecting analytics. Aggregate data is collected to understand feature usage, not to track individual users.
Marketing (require consent)
We do not currently use marketing cookies. If we add them in the future, this policy will be updated and we will request fresh consent.
3. Third party cookies
Some cookies on our site are set by third party services we use:
| Service | Purpose | Cookie type |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Payment processing security | Strictly necessary |
| Google / LinkedIn / GitHub OAuth | Sign in via third party | Strictly necessary (only if you use these sign in options) |
These third parties have their own cookie policies, which we encourage you to review.
4. How to manage cookies
Through Scout
You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking Cookie settings in our website footer, or in Settings → Privacy → Cookies when logged in.
Through your browser
Most browsers let you:
- Block all cookies
- Block cookies from specific sites
- Delete cookies after each session
- See which cookies are on your device
Note: blocking strictly necessary cookies will break Scout's basic functionality (you won't be able to log in).
5. Your consent
When you first visit heyscout.me, you'll see a cookie banner asking for your consent to non essential cookies. You can:
- Accept all: enables all cookies
- Reject all: only strictly necessary cookies are set
- Customize: choose which categories to enable
You can change your choice at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent version. Material changes will be communicated via the cookie banner asking for fresh consent.
